2011 Rogers Cup: Kim Clijsters set to make Toronto return

Four-time Grand Slam champion Kim Clijsters of Belgium is set to return early next month for the prestigious 2011 Rogers Cup tournament in Toronto, stressing that this starts her bid for the US Open tournament where she is the two-time defending champion.

The 28-year old has been battling foot injuries since winning the Australian Open tournament last January. She suffered early losses at French Open and at a grasscourt tournament prior to Wimbledon after hurting her foot once more. She first injured her right ankle last April while dancing at a cousin’s wedding.

The world number two player was forced to miss Wimbledon because of the injuries.
Clijsters is a former titlist at Toronto. She won the Rogers Cup in 2005 after beating fellow Belgian Justin Henin.

“I’m going to Toronto because I want to do well in Toronto,” Clijsters said.

“We’ll take it one tournament at a time and we’ll see how I react and how I feel and how my tennis is going,” she added.
