Eight-time Slam champion Andre Agassi inducted into Hall of Fame

Former world number one and eight-time Grand Slam titlist Andre Agassi wsa inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday.

“I’m thrilled and humbled and quite honestly a bit terrified to be here standing in front of you today,” Agassi said during his speech at the induction.

The 41-year old American tennis player was inducted together with Fern “Peachy” Kellmeyer in Newport, Rhode Island where the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships is also taking place.

Agassi spent 101 weeks atop the world rankings. He won the Australian Open four times, US Open twice, and French Open and Wimbledon once. Having won the Olympic gold medal in 1996, Agassi became just the fourth player in history to achieve a career Golden Slam.
“I fell in love with tennis far too late in my life but the reason that I have everything that I hold dear is because of how much tennis has loved me back,” said Agassi.

“Tennis has not only given me much, it has taught me much,” he added.
