Serena Williams lined up for three US Open Series 2011 events

13-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams will become more visible on the tennis courts for the next few months in a bid to rack more ranking points before the US Open tournament which takes place by the end of August. According to reports, the former world number one plans to take part at the Bank of the West Classic, Rogers Cup and the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati. These three events are part of the 2011 US Open Series (see schedule HERE).

Williams missed nearly a year on tour after cutting her foot at a restaurant in Germany shortly after winning the Wimbledon 2010 title. She played at a warm-up event in Eastbourne and at Wimbledon this year where as she crashed out in the fourth round. Failing to defend the title led to a massive drop in rankings. Williams is currently ranked 175th in the world.
“I’m getting there. Hopefully, I’ll be there really soon,” Williams was quoted as saying recently.
