Former world no. 1 and 13-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams has been named as the most popular female athlete in the US for the third straight year based on the data gathered by Harris Interactive.
In June 2011, Harris Interactive conducted a poll amongst more than two thousand respondents, asking them for their favorite athletes. Based on the results, baseball superstar Derek Jeter topped the list among both genders. However, if the list is filtered among female athletes, Serena Williams emerged as the topnotcher.
