Soderling feels good

World number five Robin Soderling will head into the US Open full of confidence after defeating Spain’s David Ferrer in the final of the Swedish Open.

“I feel really good”, Soderling told the ATP Tour website. The 26-year-old added that injuries had been a hindrance to his s in the past, but he now in excellent shape. Those looking at the US Open tennis betting ) may want to bear this in mind.

“I am going to work hard now, and hopefully I can do well [at the US Open],” he said.

Soderling, known for his vicious first serve which can top 140mph, was a runner-up at the French Open in 2009 and 2010, losing to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, respectively. He won last year¹s Paris Masters, defeating Andy Roddick in the quarter-final, Michael Llodra in the semi-final, and Gael Monfils at the climax of the tournament.
However, the Swede has never progressed beyond the quarter finals at the US Open and the tennis betting reflects this.

Soderling is said to play his best tennis in cool and wet conditions, an environment that will seem completely alien to New Yorkers this month. The city, which will host the US Open in August, has been has been beset by dangerous levels of heat this week.

Wet weather is a boon to Soderling, as returned balls lose a lot of their pace on their journey over the net, limiting the damage caused by the Swede’s main weakness – defence. Warm conditions, on the other hand, can cause problems for the 6ft 4in player, as his accuracy suffers.
