US Open Tennis 2011: Novak Djokovic heavily favored to win hardcourt Slam

After winning two Grand Slam titles so far this 2011 season, new world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia is now heavily favored to win the last Grand Slam event of the year – the US Open 2011 which takes place at Flushing Meadows from August 29 to September 11.

Those who are thinking of venturing into US Open 2011 betting can certainly reference on the impressive record of the Serbian tennis star this season. Djokovic has compiled a 48-1 match record after winning the Wimbledon title. His only loss was at the semifinals of the Roland Garros tournament against Roger Federer.
Djokovic, who overtook Rafael Nadal in the world rankings after winning Wimbledon, is an accomplished hard court player and has reached the final of the US Open twice in the past. He reached the final in 2007 where he lost to Federer and last year where he succumbed to Spain’s Rafael Nadal. Nadal went on to complete a career Golden Slam (player who had won Australian, French, Wimbledon, US Open and Olympic Gold medal).

With lesser points to defend than Nadal in the coming months, Djokovic is at least assured of a strong hold on the world’s top ranking.
