Agnieszka Radwanska wins 2011 Mercury Insurance Open title

The title drought ended for Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska on Sunday after she won the 2011 Mercury Insurance Open title. The third-seeded player beat top-seeded Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-4 to secure the title. It’s been more than three years since she won a title.

“I was playing very wel. I really wanted to win this tournament. I was very focused from the beginning,” Radwanska said.

Radwanska was a finalist in this tournament last year where she lost to Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova. This time she moved another step further to earn $111,000 for the title win. She also ended Zvonareva’s nine-match win streak.
