US Open 2011: Injured Novak Djokovic expected to compete

World number one Novak Djokovic said that a week’s rest should be enough for him to be back to full health which means he’s still a top contender in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year.

At the Cincinnati Masters 2011 Final, the Serbian pulled out of the match while trailing Andy Murray 4-6, 0-3 due to shoulder injury.

“The good thing is that there is a week, eight days to the start of the US Open,” Djokovic said.

“So I think that’s enough time for me to get ready,” he added.
Djokovic suffered only his second loss of the 2011 season. He currently has an enviable 57-2 win-loss record this season which saw him capture nine titles, including two Grand Slam titles (Australian Open and Wimbledon).

The Serbian star will be the top seed at the US Open. He finished runner-up last year to Rafael Nadal.
