Spaniard Martínez Sánchez clinches Hansol Korea Open title

María José Martínez Sánchez of Spain won her first hardcourt tournament title at the Hansol Korea Open in Seoul after beating first-time WTA finalist Galina Voskoboeva 7-6, 7-6 on Sunday’s final. The Spaniard has already won four titles in the past, all in claycourts.

“I felt very calm in the tie-breaks. That was the key for me,” Martínez Sánchez said.

“I felt I played well the whole match. I like coming to net and I think it also makes my opponents uncomfortable, so it works well. But Galina played well – this was my toughest match of the week. I had to fight until the end,” she added.
Top-seeded team Natalie Grandin and Vladimira Uhlirova won the doubles event.
