Serena Williams is back in the US Open final after beating current world number one Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the semifinals. The American former no. 1 routed the Danish star in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Williams has yet to lose a set in this tournament.
“I’m so happy,” Williams said.
“Especially with 9/11, to be an American and still in the tournament. I really want to play tomorrow on such a special day for America,” she added.
The 13-time Grand Slam champion will next face Samantha Stosur of Australia who beat surprise semifinalist Angelique Kerber in three sets.
