2011 ATP Kremlin Cup: Tipsarevic prevails in all-Serbian title clash

The 2011 ATP 250 Kremlin Cup concluded on Sunday with an all-Serbian encounter between world no. 14 Janko Tipsarevic and defending champion Viktor Troicki. In the end, it was Tipsarevic who prevailed, winning 6-4, 6-2.

“This was the first time we had an all-Serbian final, ATP or WTA, so it was a bit strange at the beginning for both of us,” said Troicki.
“Janko deserved to win, he was the better player today. We both played pretty good but he was more aggressive,” he added.

Tipsarevic won his first career ATP title in Kuala Lumpur late last month and he’s on a roll with another one in Moscow. His two title wins this season have boosted his chances for qualifying at the year-end ATP World Tour Finals. He’s currently 10th in the year-to-date rankings.

“Kuala Lumpur was more emotional because it was my first ATP World Tour title but here I was more nervous as I was playing Viktor,” said Tipsarevic.

“It was not a suprise that we played the final, as we were the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds here,” he concluded.
