2011 Japan Open Tennis Championships: Murray beats Nadal to clinch title

Andy Murray defeated defending champion Rafael Nadal in the final of the 2011 Japan Open Tennis Championships on Sunday. The Scot recovered from a first set slump to win the match 3-6, 6-2,6-0 to win his second consecutive title in two weeks. Murray won the Thailand Open title last weekend.

“I played some great tennis, especially in the third set,” Murray said. He added that this is the best tennis he had played against the 10-time Grand Slam champion.
Murray has a chance to overtake Roger Federer as number three by the end of the season and he could lessen the gap if he performs well at the Shanghai Masters tournament. Federer has skipped the tournament which begins on October 9.
