BBC network to continue broadcasting Wimbledon through 2017

British network BBC will continue showing the prestigious Wimbledon tournament through 2017 after the network and the All England Club signed a three-year extension agreement.

The BBC has been the exclusive broadcaster of the grasscourt Grand Slam tournament on television and radio since 1927. This popular tennis tournament happens to be one of the sporting events that must be availabe live on free-to-air television in the country.

BBC Sport Director Barbara Slater said that “the BBC’s first ever live sport broadcast was from Wimbledon and we are proud that our new deal means the longest partnership in sport’s broadcasting continues.”
