Huber & Raymond secure season-ending doubles title

Formidable doubles team Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond proved their supremacy in the courts by winning the 2011 TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships on Sunday, beating Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

Both Huber and Raymond have been the world number one players in doubles and have also won several Grand Slam titles. However, it was the first time that they’ve joined forces last April.

“At the end of the day we knew the winner would be the more aggressive team,” Raymond said.

“We had to take it to the net. They’re too good a team for us to wait for them to take charge. We just stuck together and stuck to it,” she added.

With the title win, Huber will finish the 2011 season as the no. 1-ranked doubles player in the world.
