Safina not yet retiring from tennis, will continue therapy

Russian former world no. 1 Dinara Safina said that she’s not going to retire from tennis and will continue undergoing therapy for her back. She finally made her thoughts known via her official website.

Hey everybody. I just want to inform you that I AM NOT retiring at this time. I will continue to use therapy to try to treat my back injury and hope to return to competition eventually,” Safina wrote.
This declaration contradicted what her older brother, former top-ranked Marat Safin said on Friday. Safin, a two-time Grand Slam champion, said that his younger sister has decided to retire from the sport because of recurring back pain. Safina has taken an indefinite leave from the tour in May after two years of chronic back pain.

Safina has won 12 titles on the WTA tour and has spent 26 weeks at the top of WTA rankings.
