Belief the key for Novak

Novak Djokovic feels he can further improve on a fantastic year and enjoy even more success in 2012, but says belief is the key.

The world number one won three of the four Grand Slam events in 2011, as well as seven other ATP titles, and overtook Rafael Nadal at the top of the standings in the process.

Djokovic finished the stellar year with an amazing 70-6 record and many pundits have questioned whether he will be able to live up to expectations in the New Year. People looking at the tennis 2012 Australian open betting will be keeping a close eye on him.

The Serbian is already looking forward to defending his Australian Open title in January and despite a disappointing group exit at the ATP World Tour Finals, Djokovic is upbeat about his chances.

The 24-year-old stated: “There’s still room for improvement. That’s something that I am aiming for.

“The game that I have is good enough to be one of the best on all surfaces, so I just need to maintain that level and always improve certain strokes in my game by certain percentage.”

Djokovic says it “does not make sense” to be “anything else but optimistic” heading into a fresh campaign and admits he “has to believe in my qualities”.

The world number one will start his 2012 campaign with his opening match at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship event in Abu Dhabi. People following the tennis betting offers at Betfair will be watching his performance keenly.

Djokovic will play Gael Monfils on December 29, with the prospect of facing Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal should he beat the Frenchman.
