Federer still excels at 30

Swiss star Roger Federer still believes that he can still be a force to reckon with even though he’s already 30 years old. Proof of this is his outstanding run so far this 2012 season where he won three titles including his fourth BNP Paribas Open – Indian Wells title which he earned on Sunday after beating American John Isner in the final.

“So I think that stands out to me. Some don’t understand how you can play tennis at 30 years old, which is shocking to me, because normally that’s still when you’re young enough to play some of your best tennis. I think I’m showing that since I turned 30 in August last year. That’s basically where my run began,” Federer was quoted as saying.

Federer has won 39 of his last 41 matches from the time he lost his semifinal match at the US Open 2011 tournament. He won three indoor titles in succession during the last part of 2011 (Basel, Paris Masters and ATP World Tour Finals) and three titles this season (Rotterdam, Dubai and Indian Wells).

“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what people say a whole lot, because I care about the fans and I care about, that I can do the pressers relaxed like I am now,” he said.
