Melanie Oudin is making the best out of her comeback in tennis at the AEGON Classic in Birmingham after posting two consecutive wins on Sunday to book a title match against Jelena Jankovic.
The Birmingham event had to endure several postponed matches due to rain and both Oudin and Jankovic had to play their quarterfinal and semifinal matches on Sunday.
Jankovic beat Japan’s Misaki Doi in the quarterfinals and overcame tough challenge from China’s Zheng Jie 6-7, 7-5, 6-1. Oudin, on the other hand, beat Irina Falconi of the US in the quarterfinals and then upset eighth-seeded Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in three sets.
The final will take place on Monday.
