France’s Aliza Cornet claimed her second career WTA on Sunday at the Gasten Ladies tennis event, a claycourt tournament that takes place at picturesque Bad Gastein spa in Austria. Cornet beat Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer 7-5, 7-6. This is Cornet’s first tile since Budapest in 2008.
This is Cornet’s second final of 2012, she lost at a claycourt tournament in Strasbourg which took place prior to the French Open. Wickmayer, on the other hand, also contested her second final of the season. She lost the first final in January at a hardcourt event in Hobart to Germany’s Mona Barthel.
Cornet took home $37,000.
