Belgian Kimer Coppejans became the first player from his country since 1947 to win the Roland Garros boys title on Sunday. The young player beat Canada’s Filip Peliwo 6-1, 6-4. Peliwo was also a runner-up at the Australian Open 2012.
Meanwhile, Germany’s Annika Beck beat Slovakia’s Anna Schmiedlova to win the girls championship with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. The last time a German girl won the Roland Garros girls title was Anna-Lena Groenefeld in 2003.
Their victories meant that they’ll get wildcard entries in next year’s Roland Garros main draw.
