Djokovic thumps former top-ranked Ferrer in Wimbledon first round

Defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic faced little resistance during his opening match at the All England Club. The Serbian world number cruised past former number one Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 6-3, 6-1.

Djokovic dominated the 2011 season capped with a 43-1 record going into this grasscourt Slam event. Despite not matching the streak last year, Djokovic is said to be the favorite among bettors with a 13:8 to win Wimbledon, while rival Nadal is at 2:1.

The next opponent for Djokovic is either Ryan Harrison or Yen-Hsun Lu, both have posted decent grasscout match records prior to entering the Wimbledon tournament and could be a much more challenge for the defending champion.
