Roland Garros 2012: Mirnyi, Nestor retain Men’s Doubles title

Belarussian Max Mirnyi and Canadian Daniel Nestor successfully defending the French Open Men’s Doubles title on Saturday evening, after beating second-seeded American twin brothers Mike and Bob Bryan 6-4, 6-4. The defending Roland Garros champions have replaced the Bryans as the world number one due last month after a successful claycourt season.

Mirnyi and Nestor have won Grand Slam doubles titles in the past but with different partners. As a duo, they’ve won two Grand Slam doubles titles, including this one. Mirnyi now has collected six Grand Slam doubles titles (four of them coming from Roland Garros) while Nestor now has eight Major doubles title (three of them here in Paris – 2007, 2011, 2012).
