Williams sisters, McHale, Lepchenko complete the US Olympic team

The United States Tennis Association has named Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Christina McHale and Varvara Lepchenko as its official representatives for the 2012 London Olympics Women’s Singles competition. Meanwhile, the American doubles teams will be composed of Liezel Huber/Lisa Raymond and the Williams sisters.

On the men’s side, the USTA announced the John Isner, Andy Roddick, Donald Young and Ryan Harrison will play in singles while the doubles teams will be composed of Isner/Roddick and brothers Bob and Mike Bryan.

Serena Williams and Lepchenko were granted exemption by the USTA to participate even though they have not fulfilled the requirements of participating to needed number of Fed Cup matches.

This raises questions as to why Vania King, a two-time Grand Slams doubles winner, was not included in the roster.
