Wimbledon 2012: Clijsters beats Czech opponent to reach third round

Kim Clijsters, playing in her final Wimbledon tournament, is set to make this a memorable one by sealing another victory on Wednesday, this time against Czech Republic’s Andrea Hlavacova 6-3, 6-2 to reach the third round at the All England club.

The Belgian former world number one hit 18 winners and won 74 percent of her first serves which contributed to an easy victory against a 90th-ranked opponent. Her next opponent would be former Wimbledon finalist Vera Zvonareva who missed a significant chunk of this season due to injury. Zvonareva won their last match at the same stage in 2010 where the Russian beat Clijsters in the quarterfinal to go all the way to the final.
