Wimbledon 2012 tickets sell quickly – organizers

A spokesperson for the All England Club, the venue of the prestigious 2012 Wimbledon tournament, said that there is a massive surge in demand for tickets at the upcoming grasscourt Slam despite a busy sporting schedule this quarter including the Euro 2012 tournament and the London Olympics.

Spokesman Johnny Perkins revealed that the “pre-sale” Wimbledont tickets have already been sold out and they are anticipating that the on-the-day ticket sales will also sell out as well.

“Because the players are all saying that they are looking forward to a double header, I think we might find more interest rather than less, but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating,” he said.

Perkins is referring to the dramatic Roland Garros 2012 final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic on Monday. The fans are anticipating that the final will also be contested between these two rivals. Last year, Djokovic beat Nadal to earn his first ever Wimbledon title.

“Since the dramatic conclusion to the French Open on the weekend, we have experienced a surge for demand in Wimbledon tickets as the Nadal/Djokovic rivalry continues to capture the heart of any tennis fan,” said Edward Parkinson, a spokesperson for online ticket site Viagogo.

The Wimbledon 2012 tournament runs from June 25 to July 8.
