2012 Toronto Masters to feature world’s top 35 ATP players

The world’s top 35 ATP World Tour stars have confirmed their participation at the upcoming 2012 Toronto Masters or Rogers Cup which is presented by the National Bank in Toronto. Defending champion Novak Djokovic will be back to defend this Masters 1000-level ATP title and will face tough competition in the field. He’s expected to be the second seed in the tournament after Swiss star Roger Federer returned to the top of the world rankings by winning the recently concluded Wimbledon 2012 Championships. Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Great Britain’s Andy Murray will be the third and fourth seeds respectively.

“We are thrilled to welcome back all the best male players in the world to Toronto,” said Toronto Rogers Cup tournament director Karl Hale.

“The depth in the men’s game makes for riveting storylines and unparalleled rivalries and we look forward to watching all the action up-close and personal when the players hit the courts in Toronto,” Hale added.

“I think that Rogers Cup in both Montreal and Toronto do a tremendous job in organizing the event and it’s one of the best [Masters] 1000 events that we have in the world of tennis,” said defending champion Novak Djokovic.

“Every player enjoys playing there. I’m really looking forward to coming there and playing my best tennis,” the Serbian star added.

The Toronto Masters 2012 Rogers Cup tournament will take place at the Rexall Centre in Toronto from August 4 to 12, 2012.
