American Brian Baker ends Wimbledon campaign in fourth round

Having won six matches all in all before reaching the Wimbledon 2012 fourth round is a fantastic achievement especially for someone who has stepped away from the sporting world in the past six years due to injuries and surgeries. This is what American Brian Baker did at the All England Club and his straight sets 6-1, 7-6, 6-3 loss to 27th-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany is not something to be sad about.

With his fourth round finish at the All England Club, Baker’s ranking is expected to rise inside the world’s top 100, estimated to be in the eighties. Not bad for someone who just played full time once more in professional tennis in less than five months and started the year ranked 458th.
