Dutchman Haase defends Austrian Bet-At-Home Cup title

Netherlands’ tennis star Robin Haase successfully defended the Bet-At-Home Cup held at Kitzbuehel, Austria on Saturday after beating Germany’s Philip Kohlschreiber 6-7, 6-3, 6-2. This is Haase’s second career title and the 42nd-ranked player picked up momentum after an hour-long rain delay to stage a comeback to take the second and deciding set.

Despite the loss, Kohlschreiber has something to celebrate as he’s projected to enter the world’s top twenty for the first time once the ATP rankings are released on Monday.

Both players will now head to London for the Olympics tennis competition and will have to adjust immediately in playing on grass courts. The Austrian event is played on claycourts. Haase will meet France’s Richard Gasquet in the opening round while Kohlschreiber will face Slovenia’s Blaz Kavcic.
