The 2012 London Olympics Men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles tennis competition has already begun and there’s so much noise now buzzing in the singles competition with the top five seeds in the men’s singles competition has so far progressed to the second round. Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, David Ferrer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga were made to tough it out in their opening matches before succeeding. The biggest casualty in the men’s side was number six Tomas Berdych who was ousted by Steve Darcis of Belgium. Should the seedings hold, the potential semifinal matches would be Roger Federer vs David Ferrer and Novak Djokovic vs Andy Murray.
On the women’s side, second-ranked and Wimbledon 2012 finalist Agnieszka Radwanska suffered an opening round defeat against Germany’s Julia Goerges. Meanwhile, top-ranked Victoria Azarenka, third-seeded Maria sharapova and fourth-seed Serena Williams progressed to the second round.
