Marin Cilic wins Croatia Open Umag title

Marin Cilic won his second title of the 2012 season after winning the ATP Vegeta Croatia Open Umag on Sunday. He defeated Marcel Granollers 6-4, 6-2 to become the first homegrown winner in this event since 1990. He won all his matches in this tournament in straight sets.

“It’s a real privilege to be among these champions,” Cilic said.

“It was really special this week. I played great tennis and I was enjoying every moment in my matches. I’m really glad I won for my supporters, my team and myself,” he added.

Cilic won earlier this year at the AEGON Championships in London after his opponent, David Nalbandian was halted from competing after unintentionally injuring a linesman in the final.
