World number two Novak Djokovic, representing his home country Serbia at the 2012 London Olympics tweeted that he will “never forget” the spectacle at the opening ceremony of the Games currently being held at the British capital. The five-time Grand Slam champion was given the honor to carry the Serbian flag during the presentation of the athletes at the opening ceremonies.
Here’s what he tweeted on July 28, 2012 – the day after the London Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremonies:
“July 28, 2012I’ll never forget the last night’s spectacle! The excitement, adrenaline, the atmosphere – everything was just perfect. A great, positive energy was felt among athletes, as well as among the massive audience. I haven’t felt anything like that in a long time and I’m still under the strong impression. It really gave us a special motivation boost for the start of the games. Andrija Zlatic won the first medal for our country! Let’s go Serbia!!! Idemo!”
He also followed it with the translation in Serbian:
“Sino?nji doga?aj nikad ne?u zaboraviti! Uzbu?enje, adrenalin, atmosfera koje je bila neverovatna. Svuda se ose?ala snažna pozitivna energija i me?u olimpijcima, kao i me?u mnogobrojnom publikom. Tako nešto dugo nisam osetio i još sam pod utiskom. Injekcija dodatne motivacije za sve nas! Prvi dan i prva medalja: Bravo Andrija! Idemo Srbijo!!!”
Djokovic is competing at the tennis competition at the All England Club as the second seed. He could potentially meet reinstated world number one Roger Federer in the gold medal match. Federer has overtaken Djokovic in the world’s top ranking after the Wimbledon 2012 tournament after the Swiss star won his seventeenth Grand Slam title at the All England Club.
