Three-time finalist Roddick loses to Ferrer at Wimbledon

Three-time Wimbledon finalist Andy Roddick ended his campaign at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships with a third round loss to 7th-ranked David Ferrer of Spain 2-6, 7-6 (8), 6-4, 6-3.

The 30th-seeded American blew a kiss to the crowd at the All England Club Centre Court before he left. The 2003 US Open champion was on a seven-match winning streak after winning the AEGON International title last weekend. However, Ferrer is also gathering momentum as well, winning the UNICEF Open last weekend as well.

Ferrer, a noted claycourt specialist who made it as far as the semifinals of the French Open earlier this month, has reached the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships for the third consecutive year. He will face Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro for a place in the quarterfinals.
