Tipsarevic wins first claycourt title in Stuttgart

Serbian Janko Tipsarevic secured his first career claycourt title by winning the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, Germany. He beat second-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. This means that all of the world’s top ten so far this season has won at least one title in 2012. Aside from the €64,700 prize money and 250 ranking points, Tipsarevic won a Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY in diamond white metallic. However, the Serbian star said that he won’t be the one to use the vehicle.

“I don’t want to call it a deal, but I have pretty solid car at home, so I don’t need it,” said Tipsarevic.

“But my wife [Biljana] and I had our anniversary a couple of days back. She also had her birthday. So I promised her the car, if I won the tournament. The points go to me,” he added.
