What’s the complete history of Olympic tennis?

You might be wondering what’s the detailed history of this amazing sport at the Olympics. Not everyone might know that tennis was one of the nine original sports played, at the Athens Olympics in 1896. The first Olympic tennis champion was Ireland’s John Boland who defeated Dionysios Kasdaglis while the first female Olympica gold medalist was Great Britain’s Charlotte Cooper who defeated Helene Prevost at the 1900 Paris Olympics.

Tennis was played as a main sport until 1924 but the sport was withdrawn from the Olympics after that. It was reinstated as a full medal sport in Seoul, South Korea in 1988.
