The 2012 Cincinnati Masters – currently named Western & Southern Open is a combined ATP and WTA event which features the best tennis players from all over the world. The men’s field will be headed by world number one Roger Federer followed by Novak Djokovic and defending champion Andy Murray. The women’s field will be headed by world number three Agnieszka Radwanska followed by number four Serena Williams.

It definitely seems like a lot are at stake at the 2012 Cincinnati Masters Open with the winners getting a significant amount of ranking points. Defending women’s singles champion Maria Sharapova and top-ranked Victoria Azarenka have already announced that they won’t be participating at this event due to injury which leaves their US Open 2012 participation in doubt. Meanwhile, the men’s field also lost familiar names including world number three Rafael Nadal, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and John Isner. Nadal has also pulled out of the 2012 London Olympics and Rogers Cup which also leaves people wondering whether he’ll participate at the 2012 US Open which begins later this month.
