WTA Rankings as of August 13, 2012

The WTA rankings as of August 13, 2012 have seen some changes in the world’s top 10. By winning the Rogers Cup 2012 on Monday, Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic made a splashing return to the world’s top five. Meanwhile, runner up Li Na of China re-enters the world’s elite at number 9, edging out Sara Errani and Marion Bartoli of France to 10th and 11th respectively. Serena Williams, the defending Rogers Cup champion opted to skip the event and lost significant ranking points in the process but is still strong at world number four. Still at the top is Victoria Azarenka of Belarus followed by Maria Sharapova of Russia and Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland. Radwanska has a chance to clinch the number one ranking for the first time if she goes deep at the Cincinnati Open this week. Both Azarenka and Sharapova have pulled out of this event due to injury.
