Serena Williams stays as world number four after US Open win

The WTA Tour Rankings as of September 10, 2012 has been released with US Open 2012 champion Serena Williams staying as world number four despite winning her 15th Grand Slam singles title at the Flushing Meadows on Sunday. Staying as world number one is US Open 2012 runner-up Victoria Azarenka followed by Maria Sharapova of Russia, who moved one place up to number two after a semifinal finish at the Big Apple. Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska moves down to number three with Williams now at the top threes’ heels with 7900 points. Noticeably absent now in the top ten roster is Caroline Wozniacki who crashed out of the elite to settle at number 11.
