David Ferrer secures third Valencia Open title

Spain’s David Ferrer won his third Valencia Open 500 title on Sunday after beating Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. This is sixth title of the year, a career best. He joins Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as the only players this season with five or more titles.

Ferrer now has 17 titles out of 32 finals contested. He received €342,850 in prize money plus 500 ranking points to solidify his ranking of world number five. Meanwhile, Dolgopolov takes home €154,570 and 300 points.

Ferrer will be taking part in Paris Masters this week and at the ATP World Tour Finals in London.
