Djokovic saves match points, surges to first Shanghai Masters title

World number two Novak Djokovic was on a brink of defeat five times in the second set but he’s managed to erase these championship points and forced a decider against two-time defending champion Andy Murray to win his first Shanghai Rolex Masters title. The score stands at 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 in a match that lasted three hours and 21 minutes.

The win adds another 1000 ranking points to Djokovic’s haul and thus narrowing down the lead of current top-ranked Roger Federer in the ATP rankings. Federer managed to keep the top ranking after reaching the semifinals of this event.
