Kei Nishikori reaches Japan Open 2012 Final

Kei Nishikori is aiming to become the first home grown player to win the Japan Open Tennis Championships 2012 final on Sunday. Facing the young Japanese star in the title match is Milos Raonic of Canada. Nishikori beat Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis in the semifinals 6-2 6-2.

“It’s an incredible feeling because I’m in a final in my home country,” Nishikori said in an interview.

“I didn’t think I would be in the final, so I’m very happy. I haven’t won a tournament in four years so hopefully I can win tomorrow,” he added.

The 17th-ranked player is through to his first ATP Tour final of the season. He’s had an impressive record so far in the Asian swing of tournaments, having reached the semifinals of the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur last week and this time, he has to chance to break the title drought in four years.
