Novak Djokovic wins China Open 2012 title, beats Tsonga in straights

World number two Novak Djokovic secured the China Open 2012 title for the third time after beating Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 to solidify his place atop the 2012 ATP World Tour Final rankings. Though he is the second-ranked player in the 52-week ATP rankings, he has accumulated the most ranking points so far in the 2012 season.

The Serbian star overcame the tough challenge from Tsonga, who’s also aiming for a place in the elite year-end event which takes place next month. Djokovic remains unbeaten at this Asian event and will pocket $530,570 as the winner plus 500 rankings points.

The 25-year old has won this event in 2009 and 2010.
