The 2012 Qatar Airways Tournament of Champions takes place from October 30 to November 4, 2012 with former world number one Caroline Wozniacki leading the eight-player field. The event has a total cash prize money of $750,000.
The event will be held at the Arena Armeec in sofia, Bulgaria. This is the first time that the Bulgarian city will host this season-ending championships for the WTA International tournaments. Sofia will be the host city from 2012 to 2014. The host city in the past three years was Bali, Indonesia (2009 – 2011).
The other players competing this year are Nadia Petrova, Roberta Vinci, Hsieh Su-Wei, Zheng Jie, Daniela Hantuchova and wildcards Maria Kirilenko and Tsvetana Pironkova. Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams would have qualified for this event after her win in Luxembourg but she already has prior commitments in South Africa during this time.
