Serena Williams enjoys a 9-2 head-to-head series lead against Sharapova with the latter’s victories were both recorded in 2004 (Wimbledon and WTA Championships).
Williams is certainly the heavy favorite to win this match considering that she has completely dominated all of their meetings in 2012 [Madrid quarterfinals 6-1, 6-3] and [London Olympics Singles final 6-0, 6-1]
