Caroline Wozniacki eases to Tournament of Champions final

Former top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki earned her way back to the world’s top ten after reaching the Tournament of Champions final after outlasting Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria in the semifinal match 6-4, 6-1 on Saturday.

The Danish star will face either Roberta Vinci of Italy or Nadia Petrova of Russia in the final.

“I feel sorry to beat Pironkova in front of her fans at home, but I am happy to reach the final and hope the fans will support me on Sunday,” Wozniacki said. Her boyfriend, top-ranked golfer Rory McIlroy, was there to watch the match.

Wozniacki is playing for her third WTA title of the 2012 season and whatever the results would be in the final, she’s assured of her return in the world’s top ten, overtaking Marion Bartoli in the process.
