Which tennis celeb is the most boring – for £250k?

It’s often said that professional sports stars are a little boring these days compared to yesteryear. And in no sport is this truer than in tennis – or perhaps golf. But it’s a bit of a chicken and egg type situation. In other words; is it the case that people whose very nature is to be a little “boring” and single-minded are bound to be good at the type of sports that really necessitate absolute concentration and devotion to their chosen field, to the exclusion of pretty much everything else – or do they become like this once they get near the top of their sport?

In truth, there’s probably a little of both, but in tennis terms, the Ilie Nastases and John McEnroes of this world probably wouldn’t make it to the top of today’s game. Of course, this is a very contentious point; we’re talking about two of the most naturally gifted players ever, but they did have real personalities and the temperaments to match in a way that today’s focused players either simply don’t – or certainly don’t let come to the fore.

Anyway, the point is made that many modern players are perceived as boring whether we like it or not. So how about trying to persuade the most boring of all to become a little less so?

The well-known off-the-wall online Bingo site Jackpotjoy has recently launched its “FUNdation” – which will grant funds for fun / off-the-wall ideas! According to a survey organised by the online gaming company, Victoria Beckham, Jeremy Clarkson, Tom Cruise and Madonna were found to be the least fun celebs of all by the UK public. So Jackpotjoy has now invited people across the UK as well as these celebrities to join its £250,000 FUNdation on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/jackpotjoy).

The FUNdation will grant funds to and rewards for zany ideas which will help make people laugh in the UK and generally have more fun.
Jackpotjoy will then pick the winners who will either receive FUNding so their crazy ideas can become a reality; or a cash reward for actually doing the crazy things themselves.

So perhaps it’s time some of the world’s top and most boring tennis players joined in the fun with Jackpotjoy, volunteering to do something daft – and to donate the proceeds to their favourite charity? Maybe then people will realise they aren’t quite as boring as they seem?
