2012 Roland Garros runner-up Sara Errani lost her first round match at the ongoing 2013 Australian Open. The Italian player lost to Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro 4-6, 4-6 on Monday.
Errani had a stellar year in 2012 which saw her reaching her first Grand Slam singles final at the French Open (lost to Maria Sharapova) and reaching the US Open semifinals. She also won four titles which saw her ranking rise from 45 at the end of 2011 to number six by the end of 2012.
