Roger Federer keeps Grand Slam quarterfinal streak alive after Australian Open victory

World number two Roger Federer defeated Canada’s Milos Raonic at the Australian Open 2013 fourth round with a 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 score. By reaching the quarterfinals, Federer has successfully kept the streak of consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal (or better) finishes at 35.

The match did not have the same quality and intensity to last night’s five set marathon match between Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka. Federer cruised and did not seem to find Raonic’s imposing serve to be much of a problem.

Up next for Federer is Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the latter outlasted compatriot Richard Gasquet in four sets. Tsonga is a former finalist at the Melbourne Park.
