Roger Federer to skip Davis Cup match against Czech Republic in Geneva

World number two Roger Federer is reportedly skipping the scheduled Davis Cup 2013 first round match between Switzerland and defending champion Czech Republic in Geneva next month. Federer normally doesn’t participate during the early rounds of this competition.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion was not included in the lineup revealed by the Switzerland’s Tennis Federation. The Swiss team will be composed of Stanislas Wawrinka and little-known Marco Chiudinelli, Henri Laaksonen, Michael Lammer and Sandro Ehrat.

The Switzerland vs Czech Republic Davis Cup first round match will take place from February 1 to 3, 2013.

The Czech team is composed of Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek. Both players helped beat Spain for the Davis Cup 2012 title which was contested last November.
