Serena, Venus Williams to take part in Australian Open 2013 ladies doubles

The Williams sisters will be taking part at the ladies’ doubles event of the upcoming Australian Open 2013 tournament, which begins on January 14.

After winning the Brisbane International tournament on Saturday, Serena Williams revealed during her post-match interview that she’s indeed participating at the doubles event with her older sister.

“We just got into the doubles draw, so maybe I’ll work on doubles drills, too,” Serena said.

The Williams sisters have won the Australian Open ladies doubles four times (2001, 2003, 2009 and 2010). They have accumulated 13 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic Gold medals in doubles. They will be the team to beat in Melbourne.
