Tomas Berdych powers through at Australian Open 2013

Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych reached the Australian Open 2013 fourth round after beating 26th-seeded Jurgen Melzer of Austria 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in just one hour and 48 minutes. The fifth seeded will face South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in the next round.

“I felt I was moving pretty well,” Berdych said. “I like the courts, it brings me good memories. My game was really solid all the way through the match.

Berdych said that he’s expecting a tougher match and will have to do something different about his gameplay.

“[In the] next round Anderson will be a different opponent, so I will have to bring something different. I know him quite well, we’ve played a couple of times and they were all pretty close,” he said.

“I heard already someone say that ‘it’s like me playing against myself’. Let’s see how I can deal with that. [There is] not many matches where you face an opponent that plays such a similar game. I saw him play today and he was really impressive,” he added.
